### NCIS Loses Top Spot After 21 Seasons to Tracker with 10.8 Million Viewers
For the first time in half a decade, NCIS is no longer the top scripted show, overtaken by Tracker, which averaged 10.8 million viewers. Tracker’s success is attributed to its post-Super Bowl debut and the return of star Justin Hartley. Despite this shift, CBS still dominated the 2023-2024 TV season with seven shows in the top 10, including NCIS and Young Sheldon.
**NCIS** premiered in 2003 as a JAG spinoff and has since become a standalone success with multiple spinoffs. The latest season concluded on May 6, 2024, drawing an average of 9.7 million viewers, placing it second behind Tracker. Despite losing its top spot, NCIS has been renewed for a 22nd season.
**Tracker** debuted on February 11, 2024, immediately after the Super Bowl, with an initial viewership of 18.44 million. Though its numbers dropped to 6.87 million for the second episode, it stabilized with 7.65 million viewers for its season finale. Justin Hartley’s return to TV since This Is Us played a significant role in Tracker’s popularity, securing its renewal for a second season.
**CBS** dominated the 2023-2024 season, with seven of its shows in the top 10. Besides Tracker and NCIS, Young Sheldon averaged 9.3 million viewers, FBI 8.8 million, Blue Bloods 8.4 million, and Ghosts 8.2 million. NBC’s Chicago Fire was the only non-CBS scripted show in the top 10, with 8.6 million viewers.
