CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (WNCT) — A death investigation is currently underway at Camp Lejeune following the discovery of a Marine found deceased in their residence.
USMC Major RJ Powers, the deputy director of COMMSTRAT, confirmed to WNCT’s Erin Jenkins that the Marine, whose identity has not yet been released, was a member of the Weapons Training Battalion. The Marine was found unresponsive by their spouse at their home in Midway Park on the afternoon of May 30. Despite the administration of life-saving measures, the Marine was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) has been called in and has assumed jurisdiction over the investigation.
