NCIS: Hawai’i star Sharif Atkins has secured his first role since the show’s cancellation, joining the cast of the new Apple TV+ series *Me*. Atkins, known for his role as Captain Norman ‘Boom Boom’ Gates on the CBS series, will star in this coming-of-age drama.
*Me* follows middle-schooler Ben, who must adjust to a newly blended family while discovering his superpowers. The 10-episode season will chronicle Ben’s journey of self-discovery, aided by his stepsister Max, who helps him harness his powers and uncover community mysteries and tragedies.
Atkins will play Darren Kennedy, alongside a cast that includes Lucian-River Chauhan as Ben, Abigail Pniowsky, Dilshad Vadsaria, Amanda Reid, Jessy Yates, and Kyle Howard. Created by Barry L. Levy of *Vantage Point*, the series premieres on July 12 on Apple TV+.
Earlier this year, *NCIS: Hawai’i* was canceled after three seasons. CBS Entertainment’s Amy Reisenbach explained the decision to Variety, expressing sympathy for disappointed fans but emphasizing the need to make tough calls based on viewership numbers and future projections.
*Me* will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ starting July 12.
