Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are set to reunite on-screen in their new NCIS spin-off show, NCIS: Tony and Ziva – and it seems the actor may have just teased an exciting cameo.

The duo, who will reprise their roles as married couple Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, also host a podcast together where they discuss all things NCIS with various guest stars. In the latest episode, they welcomed Eric Christian Olsen, who played Marty Deeks in NCIS: Los Angeles until its cancellation last year.

As they reminisced about their time on the NCIS franchise, Michael hinted at Eric making an appearance on their new show. “It would be lovely to see you in the NCIS universe again,” Michael said, winking at Eric. Though the conversation moved on before Eric could respond, he’s previously expressed interest in reprising his role, particularly in the Australia-set spin-off, NCIS: Sydney. Before the show’s premiere last year, Eric commented on a teaser trailer shared by the official NCIS social media channel.

Fans last saw Eric in the emotional final episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, where Marty and his wife Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) discovered they were having a baby. Since then, Eric has been busy with other projects, including his role as executive producer on CBS’s Matlock reboot starring Kathy Bates. While he hasn’t announced any future TV projects, fans are hopeful he can make time for a cameo in the new spin-off.

NCIS: Tony and Ziva will be filmed in Budapest and other European locations this summer, with a release expected in late 2024 or early 2025. The show follows the couple, who have been raising their daughter Tali in Paris. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, trying to uncover who is after them and possibly learning to trust each other again.

Michael recently shared more details about the series at the 63rd Monte-Carlo Television Festival in June. He explained that Tony and Ziva’s teenage daughter Tali will add “a new element of trouble” to the story. “Every choice that Tony and Ziva make in their adventure, their child is first and foremost in their mind. When we were on NCIS, we didn’t have children,” he said.

He continued, “When you have a child, you have to navigate what is best for them. And then maybe you have a co-parent that you have a tumultuous relationship with… and oh, wait, we also have to save the world.”
