“‘NCIS: Origins’ Adds ‘SNL’ Alum Bobby Moynihan and ‘Orange is the New Black’ Star Lori Petty to Cast

During the Television Critics’ Association’s summer press tour, coshowrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal announced exciting new additions to the upcoming ‘NCIS’ prequel series, ‘NCIS: Origins.’ Bobby Moynihan joins as Woodrow “Woody” Browne, head of the NIS Forensic Lab, promising to inject humor into the CBS procedural. According to North, Moynihan’s scenes so far have been uproariously funny.

Lori Petty will play Dr. Lenora Friedman, an assistant medical examiner bringing her talent to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office. The series, set to debut October 14 on CBS, stars Austin Stowell as a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, beginning his career as a special agent in 1991 at NCIS Camp Pendleton.

The ensemble cast also includes Mariel Molino, Kyle Schmid, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote. Mark Harmon serves as narrator and executive producer alongside his son, Sean Harmon. North and Monreal, who cowrote the premiere and previously worked on ‘NCIS,’ reunite as coshowrunners for the series.”
