Vanessa Lachey and her family are saying goodbye to Hawaii.
The Love Is Blind co-host, 43, recently took to Instagram to announce her family’s move from the islands to the mainland, following CBS’s cancellation of her hit drama NCIS: Hawai’i after just three seasons. In a heartfelt post on Monday, Vanessa shared a series of photos featuring herself, her husband Nick, 50, and their three kids—Camden John, 11, Brooklyn Elisabeth, 9, and Phoenix Robert, 7—all dressed in Hawaiian-themed outfits and floral leis.
“A Hui Hou” ❤️ Home is where the heart is… Hawai’i, you will always have my heart! Mahalo Nui Loa for 3 beautiful, magical years you gave me and my family! Now, on to the next adventure. Off into the sunset we go! #LacheyPartyOf5 #AlohaSpirit,” Vanessa captioned the post, including a sweet photo of her and Nick holding hands as they walked into the sunset.
The stunning beachside photos resonated with Vanessa’s 1.1 million followers, garnering over 34k likes and hundreds of supportive comments. Fans expressed their disappointment over the show’s cancellation, with one writing, “Loved NCIS: Hawai’i! CBS made a mistake!!” Another added, “We will never forget what you have done in our hearts, you leave us with a small void that will be impossible to fill. A Hui Hou.”
Vanessa previously shared her shock and sadness when the series was not renewed for a fourth season in April, posting on her Instagram Story, “Gutted, confused, blindsided. Grateful, confident, beloved fans!” Vanessa, who starred as Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant, also thanked fans, ending with the traditional “Mahalo Nui Loa.”
CBS’s decision came just days before the official announcement, leaving no opportunity for the cast and crew to bring the show to a proper conclusion. Despite strong ratings and the addition of NCIS: Los Angeles veteran LL Cool J to the cast, the network chose to cancel the show, possibly due to uncertainty surrounding the future of parent company Paramount Global, which is currently in the process of being sold.
NCIS: Hawai’i was notable for being the first in the franchise to be led by a woman and the first to be cut without a proper sendoff, unlike NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans, which both had graceful exits after 14 and seven seasons, respectively.
