Is Tony DiNozzo gearing up for a grand return to NCIS? If Michael Weatherly has his way, it just might happen.
Fans of the popular CBS drama haven’t seen Weatherly since his departure in 2016, but he recently hinted at a possible comeback. When a fan asked on X (formerly Twitter) whether he preferred playing DiNozzo on NCIS or Dr. Jason Bull on Bull (the show he left NCIS for), Weatherly dropped an exciting tease.
“There will be more DiNozzo someday because he is the one character that felt unfinished … that’s my plan! We shall see,” he replied, sparking hope among fans. The response was immediate, with many expressing their excitement at the prospect of DiNozzo’s return. “Sounds like a great plan … look forward to that day,” one fan wrote, while another added, “Fingers crossed your plan will be accomplished in the near future!”
This isn’t the first time Weatherly has hinted at a return. In November 2023, he posted a selfie referencing DiNozzo’s connection to Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), fueling more speculation. “This guy woke me up this morning … He wouldn’t stop talking about Gibbs,” he wrote.
So, could a reunion be in the works? Only time will tell, but fans are certainly ready for it. Hear that, CBS? Time to make dreams come true!
