The upcoming NCIS spin-off, NCIS: Origins, has released its first teaser, giving fans a glimpse into the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
The teaser reflects on Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) departure from the original series, with a voiceover hinting, “We know how his story ended. Now see how it all began.”
Set during Gibbs’ time at Camp Pendleton, the prequel will feature younger versions of familiar NCIS faces. Austin Stowell stars as young Gibbs, Mariel Molino and Kyle Schmid play Lala Dominguez and Mike Franks, respectively, while Diany Rodriguez portrays young Vera Strickland. Tyla Abercrumbie joins as Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo, and Longmire star Robert Taylor will appear as Jackson Gibbs, Jethro’s father.
Fans missing Harmon will be pleased to hear that he’ll return as the narrator for NCIS: Origins.
Meanwhile, NCIS: Hawai’i has been canceled by CBS after three seasons. Vanessa Lachey and other cast members have expressed their disappointment, with Lachey feeling “blindsided” by the decision.
NCIS: Origins is set to premiere this autumn. NCIS airs on CBS in the US, with Seasons 1-20 streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
