Vanessa Lachey Reflects on NCIS: Hawai’i Cancellation and Emotional Finale**
After the April 26 announcement of NCIS: Hawai’i’s cancellation, Vanessa Lachey shared her heartfelt response on Instagram, addressing the series’ abrupt end without closure.
Lachey posted a poignant video, reminiscing about filming the first episode. “Forever your Sweet Jane… This was the same spot where I filmed episode 1,” she wrote. “I sat here at 2 am in June 2021 and stared into the ocean, asking for protection for my family, crew, and show. Today, knowing our show is over, I asked again… what do we do now? The ocean answered with ease. We aren’t meant to be here forever; we appreciate, nurture, and leave things better for the next dreamer.”
Lachey expressed her regret over the lack of time and a proper goodbye. “In Hawai’i we don’t say ‘Good-Bye,’ we say ‘A Hui Hou’ – until we meet again. To all, especially the beloved fans… A Hui Hou.” Co-stars Alex Tarrant and Noah Mills responded with heartfelt comments. “Don’t have the words,” Tarrant wrote, while Mills said, “Love you V! So proud of what we all did.”
Initially, in an Instagram story, Lachey expressed feeling “gutted, confused, and blindsided.” NCIS star Rocky Carroll also shared his surprise, recalling a recent talk show with Lachey and LL COOL J, celebrating their part in the NCIS universe. He hinted at the possibility of Lachey’s character appearing in other NCIS series, noting LL COOL J’s character’s crossover from Los Angeles to Hawai’i.
NCIS: Hawai’i is concluding with a two-part finale. Tarrant mentioned a “special twist” and confirmed the series ends on a cliffhanger.
