NCIS Season 22 Receives Clarification From Long-Time Star Ahead of New Episodes
With NCIS season 22 set to premiere soon on CBS, one of the show’s long-time stars has offered clarity amid ongoing fan speculation. Since the season 21 finale aired earlier this year, viewers have been concerned about the future of certain characters, particularly Katrina Law’s Jessica Knight. While new cast photos confirm that Law will remain on the show, questions linger about other team members.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wilmer Valderrama, who portrays Nick Torres, addressed his character’s status. Valderrama, a series regular since 2016, assured fans that Torres will still play a key role in season 22, which begins airing Monday, October 17 at 8 PM ET on CBS. However, the actor hinted at upcoming challenges for his character, promising both humor and high-stakes drama in the new episodes.
When asked about his involvement, Valderrama responded:
“I think they always worry. The fans are so passionate about NCIS. I would say this: In season 22, the contribution these writers have made to the show is invaluable. We’re focusing more on personal journeys for our characters. This season will be more humorous, emotionally driven, and, perhaps — just perhaps — the characters will face significant danger.”
Major Changes Ahead for the NCIS Team
Season 22 promises to shake things up for the NCIS team, with significant changes on the horizon for several characters. Much of the recent speculation has revolved around Jessica Knight, who received a job offer in the season 21 finale that could take her away from her current role. Her decision will have major implications for her relationship with Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), and the ripple effect will impact the entire team, including Torres.
Valderrama teased that with Knight accepting the new job and relocating to California, the dynamics within the team will shift. Torres will find himself taking on more undercover missions, a development that poses its own set of dangers. This could be especially perilous for Torres, who recently confronted a dark chapter from his past during a revenge-driven storyline in the season 21 premiere.
Additionally, season 22 will delve into the unresolved “Lily mystery” surrounding Alden Parker (Gary Cole), giving audiences a deeper look into Parker’s backstory. Meanwhile, other characters, like McGee (Sean Murray), will face their own challenges, with McGee possibly stepping into a new role as deputy director. With key team members embarking on separate paths, the season is poised to take unexpected turns for fans.
