The anticipation for the upcoming NCIS spin-off, “NCIS: Origins,” is palpable as fans are given a tantalizing glimpse into the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the former protagonist of the long-running series. In a captivating teaser, viewers are reminded of Gibbs’ departure from the show, with a voiceover hinting at the exploration of his origins: “We know how his story ended. Now see how it all began.”

Set against the backdrop of Camp Pendleton, the series promises to delve into Gibbs’ formative years, offering insight into the experiences and relationships that shaped the iconic character. Austin Stowell steps into the role of a younger Gibbs, capturing the essence of the beloved character in his earlier days. Alongside him, Mariel Molino and Kyle Schmid bring to life familiar faces from the NCIS universe, portraying Lala Dominguez and Mike Franks respectively.

Diany Rodriguez takes on the role of young Vera Strickland, a character introduced in the eleventh season of the main show, while Tyla Abercrumbie embodies Field Operation Support Officer Mary Jo, adding depth to the ensemble cast. Notably, Robert Taylor, known for his role in “Longmire,” joins the cast as Jackson Gibbs, offering a glimpse into the complex dynamics of Gibbs’ family life.

For fans eagerly awaiting Mark Harmon’s return, the actor lends his voice as the narrator for “NCIS: Origins,” adding his signature gravitas to the prequel narrative. Harmon’s involvement serves as a reassuring presence for viewers, bridging the gap between the original series and its anticipated spin-off.

However, amidst the excitement for “NCIS: Origins,” there’s disappointment for fans of “NCIS: Hawai’i” as CBS announces the cancellation of the series after three seasons. Led by Vanessa Lachey as Special Agent-in-Charge Jane Tennant, the show garnered praise for its representation and diverse cast. Lachey, along with other cast members, expressed their surprise and frustration at the decision, highlighting the loss for representation in the industry.

As anticipation builds for the release of “NCIS: Origins” this autumn, fans can look forward to revisiting the beloved world of NCIS while embarking on a new journey into the origins of one of its most iconic characters.
