Mark and Sean Harmon are ready to unveil the untold story of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the highly anticipated prequel, “NCIS: Origins.” Serving as executive producers, the father-son duo shared their excitement during an interview with ET’s Kevin Frazier at the CBS Schedule Reveal Celebration.

Mark, who portrayed Special Agent Gibbs for 19 seasons on NCIS, expressed enthusiasm for exploring uncharted territory. “It’s all going to be a time that we haven’t traveled before. It’s 1990, so it’s something we’re all looking forward to,” he explained.

The brainchild of Sean, who portrayed the younger Gibbs in flashback episodes, “NCIS: Origins” delves into the character’s early days at the renowned law enforcement agency. Sean reflected on the significance of the character and the impact of NCIS on his own life, emphasizing the importance of telling this story.

The prequel stars Austin Stowell as Special Agent Gibbs and features a talented cast including Mariel Molino, Kyle Schmid, and Tyla Abercrombie. With recurring roles for Robert Taylor, Daniel Bellomy, and Caleb Foote, the series promises to offer fans a fresh perspective while also delivering nostalgic Easter eggs.

Mark, returning to the franchise as an executive producer and narrator, shared his initial skepticism about NCIS but was ultimately drawn in by the character’s name.
