Another show has joined a long list of culprits.
The cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i has caused quite a stir in the media ever since the news broke in April. Devoted fans have launched their own investigations to uncover the exact reasons behind CBS’s decision to ditch the high-rated show. Meanwhile, others have been busy creating and spreading a petition to unite NCIS: Hawai’i enthusiasts in a fight to save the series. However, as the chances of a comeback seem increasingly unlikely, CBS’s other successful shows are being blamed for stealing NCIS: Hawai’i’s time slots and even its ratings. Interestingly, one of the shows under scrutiny is another spinoff from the NCIS franchise.
While fans of the canceled show continue to voice their frustration on social media, the NCIS universe is expanding with two new and radically different spinoffs set to premiere soon. All eyes are now on NCIS: Origins, an upcoming series focusing exclusively on NCIS Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his earlier years with the agency in the 1990s. Even before its potential release, NCIS: Origins has faced backlash from NCIS: Hawai’i fans, who accuse the new show of deliberately taking the canceled spinoff’s time slot and borrowing the concept of Young Sheldon to secure a place in CBS’s tight schedule.
The situation has become even more contentious as NCIS: Origins, which has yet to receive a release date, now faces additional accusations regarding its budget.
