CBS’ newly renewed NCIS: Los Angeles is set to celebrate its 300th episode with a significant development: the introduction of Special Agent Sam Hanna’s father. TVLine has an exclusive first look at this highly anticipated reunion.
In the milestone episode titled “Work & Family,” airing Sunday, May 8, Richard Gant will debut in a recurring role as Raymond Hanna, the father of LL Cool J’s character, Sam. Gant’s extensive TV credits include NYPD Blue, Deadwood, General Hospital, Men of a Certain Age, The Mindy Project, Greenleaf, The Neighborhood, and an episode of Magnum P.I., among others.
Loyal NCIS: LA viewers are familiar with Sam’s family, having met his son Aiden, daughter Kamran, and his late wife Michelle. Raymond Hanna, previously known to fans as a Colonel in the Marines, was disappointed when young Sam chose to join the Navy after being sent to a military academy.
In Gant’s debut episode, the storyline takes a poignant turn as Sam moves in with his father to help care for him, as Raymond struggles with early-onset dementia.
“Reaching our 300th episode is such a blessing,” NCIS: LA showrunner and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill tells TVLine. “We are all so grateful for the support of the studio, network, and especially our fans who have supported us for 13 seasons and allowed us to work together as a cast, crew, and family for all these years.”
Gemmill adds, “Such longevity for a TV series has become a rarity, and everyone on the show works so hard because we know how truly lucky we are and continue to be as we excitedly head into Season 14!”
The 300th episode promises to be an emotional and action-packed installment, celebrating the series’ enduring success and deepening the character development of one of its central figures.
