### CBS Boss Reveals Heartbreak Behind 2024 TV Cancellations

Each spring, TV fans brace for disappointment as beloved shows face the axe. This year, CBS sparked widespread outcry with a slew of cancellations that left viewers and stars alike reeling. Among those affected was *NCIS: Hawai’i*, whose star Jason Antoon openly criticized CBS for the abrupt decision despite strong viewership.

Vanessa Lachey, who played a lead role in *NCIS: Hawai’i*, admitted she was blindsided by the cancellation after three seasons. Antoon, known for portraying cyber intelligence specialist Ernie Malik, didn’t hold back, using social media to highlight the show’s impressive ratings and fan support.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach addressed the backlash at the Banff World Media Festival, acknowledging the difficulty of these decisions. “They’re extremely tough calls to make,” she said, emphasizing CBS’s commitment to analyzing viewer metrics and future prospects when canceling shows.

While shows like *Young Sheldon* and *Bob Hearts Abishola* saw planned endings, others such as *CSI: Vegas* and *So Help Me Todd* faced premature cancellations despite decent ratings. Marcia Gay Harden hinted that CBS’s impending sale to Paramount might have influenced these decisions, citing uncertainties in meeting sales-driven benchmarks.

Despite the disappointment, fans can revisit their favorite canceled shows on Paramount+ as they await new TV ventures from CBS.
