Going stylish doesn’t always equate to safety.
Throughout its more than twenty-year run, CBS’s long-standing police procedural NCIS has shown that a calm office atmosphere is far from reality for its Special Agents. They must be physically prepared for anything that comes their way during numerous missions.
The show has never focused on physical comfort or stylish choices, yet one of NCIS’s leading actors once experienced a James Bond-esque moment that didn’t end well. Recently, NCIS launched a new podcast titled *Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch*, hosted by actors Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo. Sean Murray, who plays Timothy McGee, appeared as a guest star on the podcast.
Fans were excited to see Murray join his former co-stars and expressed hope for his appearance in the upcoming spinoff *NCIS: Tony & Ziva*, starring Weatherly and de Pablo. During the podcast, Murray reminisced about some of the original show’s most memorable moments, including an injury he sustained while filming a scene in a car wash for the second season episode “Bikini Wax.” According to Murray, the injury occurred due to a wardrobe malfunction—he wore dress shoes instead of more practical sneakers.
Murray recounted, “I remember taking a sharp right… My dress shoes come out right from under me ’cause I’m sprinting. I come down on my right hand.” He revealed that his thumb still has “very limited mobility,” though it’s not a significant issue since “it’s a good thing I’m a lefty.”
The reason for wearing dress shoes remains unclear, especially since viewers didn’t need to see his feet. Despite this, things could have turned out worse. Timothy McGee now has another memorable scene, though it’s somewhat bittersweet for fans of the show.
