The cancellation of *NCIS: Hawai’i* after three seasons has been addressed by a network executive. The spin-off series, featuring Special Agent Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and her team, was cancelled earlier this year.
Amy Reisenbach of CBS Entertainment called the decision a “really tough call.” In an interview with Variety, she said, “I’m a big fan of TV first and I sympathize and relate to all the fans out there who are disappointed that these shows are ending. But at the end of the day, our job at CBS is to make those really tough calls. We toss and turn, have sleepless nights, and engage in endless discussions, but we look at all the numbers. We consider our projections for the future, identify opportunities for potentially greater success on the schedule, and make those tough decisions.”
Following the show’s conclusion, Vanessa Lachey shared an emotional tribute to her character on social media, highlighting the significance of her role as the first female lead in the *NCIS* franchise. “This show meant so much to me… and more every day I find, to lots of people,” she wrote on Instagram. She added, “As an AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islanders) woman, wife, mother, colleague, and friend, I am more proud than ever to have been your Jane Tennant on TV.”
Lachey continued, “This journey has taught me to continue to push the envelope and break glass ceilings. I encourage you all to do the same! Anything we dream is ours for the taking, no matter the circumstance! A Hui Hou (a Hawaiian phrase meaning until we meet again).”
