“NCIS Franchise Expands: Stapf and Reisenbach Dish on Spinoffs, Harmon’s Return, and Future Plans!

With the franchise hitting its 1,000th episode milestone, CBS Studios President David Stapf and CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach sat down with Deadline to discuss the ever-growing NCIS universe.

Stapf emphasized the strategic expansion of the franchise, praising NCIS: LA for its role in deepening viewer engagement. He highlighted the importance of maintaining each spinoff’s unique identity while ensuring it stands strong within the larger franchise.

One of the most anticipated spinoffs reunites Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo as Tony and Ziva. Set after their reunion in Paris, the series follows the couple raising their daughter while navigating a perilous journey across Europe.

Regarding NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: Sydney, Reisenbach hinted at ongoing discussions about their future. Meanwhile, she confirmed that Mark Harmon could return to the cast if he so desires, leaving the door open for his potential comeback.

Despite reaching the monumental 1,000th episode mark, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. Reisenbach attributed its enduring success to the unwavering commitment of the creative team in preserving the show’s essence.

While Harmon hasn’t returned as a cast member, he’s taking on a producer role for NCIS: Origins, a gritty prequel shedding light on Leroy Gibbs’ early years. Reisenbach teased the series’ edgier tone and serialized storytelling, promising a fresh take on the beloved NCIS universe.”
