Despite the cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i, CBS is making room for a brand new series. While NCIS fans might be disappointed, the network is moving forward with another police procedural drama, ensuring NCIS: Hawai’i won’t be returning.
According to Deadline, CBS is reviving its long-planned project titled *Einstein*, an adaptation of the German series of the same name. Originally released in 2017 and canceled after three seasons, *Einstein* follows Felix Winterberg, Albert Einstein’s great-great-grandson. Felix, a genius and the youngest professor of theoretical physics at a prestigious German university, finds himself in trouble with the police due to a fatal illness. To avoid prison, he uses his brilliant mind to help solve crimes.
CBS has attempted to adapt *Einstein* twice before in the last five years. In 2019, Andy Breckman and Randy Zisk, known for their work on *Monk*, showed interest in adapting the series for an American audience. However, the project was shelved following the 2020 murder of George Floyd and subsequent changes in perspectives on policing.
Now, CBS is reviving the project with potential plot changes, reflecting the four years of development time since its last attempt. Although there is no release date for the American version of *Einstein*, it is expected to hit screens sometime in 2025 or later.
