The network’s recent promotional move might be their biggest mistake to date.

Although NCIS: Hawai’i was officially canceled by CBS earlier this year, a recent post on one of the network’s social media accounts quickly reignited the emotions of the series’ fans, leaving them either hopeful for a spinoff revival or furious at CBS’ audacity.

Unfortunately, the latter seems more likely in this case.

A few days ago, the managers of NCIS’ official Instagram account, ncisverse, attempted to wish their followers a happy summer solstice. However, the post, which included several pictures from the NCIS shows’ production sets, also featured characters from NCIS: Hawai’i. This quickly drew negative attention.

Many fans criticized CBS for appearing indifferent to their feelings by posting images that implied NCIS: Hawai’i was still part of the lineup, despite its cancellation. Some fans claimed that the network’s executives “woke up and chose violence,” while others promoted a petition urging CBS to revive NCIS: Hawai’i.

Why Was NCIS: Hawai’i Canceled?

CBS canceled the show in April, leaving many fans heartbroken and outraged. This led to a campaign on social media calling out the network for replacing a successful series with potentially lesser shows. Despite fans’ efforts, including a petition and a movement on social media, the campaign did not gain much traction. This was especially frustrating given that NCIS: Hawai’i ended on a major cliffhanger, which now seems unlikely to be resolved.

The reason behind the NCIS account managers’ seemingly insensitive post remains unclear. However, this mistake may have just sparked another round of backlash that CBS will have to address.
