This Monday, NCIS: Origins dives deeper into the past, flashing back to a pivotal moment in Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ life. Before Gibbs (Austin Powell) began his career as an NIS agent in 1991, he had a fateful first encounter with Special Agent Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid)—the man investigating the devastating murders of Gibbs’ wife Shannon and daughter Kelly.
But the episode, titled One Flew Over, isn’t all heavy. As seen in an exclusive Parade sneak peek, Gibbs shows a softer side while navigating Camp Pendleton in search of the Natural Resources Office for an unusual reason: rescuing an injured bird that flew into his apartment.
Mary Jo (Tyla Abercrumbie), the ever-resourceful “Head Secretary in Charge,” helps Gibbs locate the office on a base map, though it’s likely closed for the night. Undeterred, Gibbs wonders if he can scrounge up some birdseed, only to be interrupted by Franks.
“Probie, I thought you went home,” Franks quips, puzzled when Gibbs explains his predicament with the bird. Their banter is cut short when a call from Randy (Caleb Foote) brings news of another case.
Catch NCIS: Origins Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and streaming the next day on Paramount+.
