Glen Powell Reflects on How NCIS Revived His Career
Actor Glen Powell, now known for his standout performances in films like Top Gun: Maverick and Set It Up, recently opened up about a pivotal moment in his career. During a challenging period when opportunities seemed scarce, Powell credits his guest appearance on NCIS with giving him a much-needed boost and keeping his career afloat.
Powell revealed that before landing the role, he faced a string of setbacks and struggled to find consistent work in Hollywood. “There are times in this industry where you start to wonder if you’re ever going to catch a break,” Powell shared in a recent interview. “During one of those low points, NCIS came along, and it was exactly what I needed to keep going.”
In 2011, Powell guest-starred in Season 8, Episode 21 of NCIS, titled Dead Reflection. He played Marine Staff Sergeant Evan Westcott, a character integral to the episode’s plot. While it was a one-time appearance, the role proved to be a crucial stepping stone in his career.
“NCIS is one of those shows that has such a massive following and incredible reputation,” Powell said. “Being part of something so well-respected gave me the confidence and exposure to keep pursuing my dreams.”
The experience not only provided Powell with a renewed sense of purpose but also opened doors to other opportunities. Shortly after his NCIS stint, he began landing more substantial roles, eventually cementing his status as a rising star in Hollywood.
Looking back, Powell expresses deep gratitude for the role and the show’s impact on his journey. “Sometimes it’s the unexpected opportunities that remind you why you love what you do. NCIS came into my life at the perfect time, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”
Today, Powell’s career is thriving, but he remains humble about his beginnings and credits moments like his time on NCIS for shaping the path to his success.
