NCISverse Heats Up: New Spin-Offs, Cancellations, and Surprising Returns
The NCIS universe is buzzing with recent developments, including the final cancellation of NCIS: Hawaii, NCIS: Tony & Ziva finding its Tali and starting production, and the much-anticipated NCIS: Origins prequel series. NCIS: Origins will delve into Gibbs’ early days as an agent in the ’90s, with Mark Harmon returning as the narrator.
This prequel promises to enrich our understanding of Gibbs’ past and introduce younger versions of beloved characters like his father Jackson, Mike Franks, and Vera Strickland. Co-showrunners David North and Gina Monreal hinted at potential cameos from NCIS: New Orleans’ Dwayne Pride and NCIS: Los Angeles’ Hetty Lange. While not confirmed, North stated, “I don’t think we want to say no to anything.”
Given Gibbs and Pride’s shared history, Pride’s cameo seems likely. However, Hetty’s introduction might be more complex, possibly involving Callen if the series continues. Fans of NCIS: Los Angeles have eagerly awaited Hetty’s return since the series ended without a proper send-off due to Linda Hunt’s unavailability. Although an appearance on NCIS: Origins isn’t exactly what fans expected, it offers a chance to see a young Hetty in action and learn more about her past.
