NCIS returns for Season 22 next month, and details are finally emerging about what’s in store—especially for Katrina Law’s Jessica Knight. After the Season 21 finale, “Reef Madness,” left her future on the show uncertain, the release of Season 22 cast photos brought the first hint that Law would be sticking around. Now, new information confirms where things will pick up after the break.

Though Knight took the job as NCIS REACT Chief Training Officer at Camp Pendleton in the finale, fans weren’t entirely convinced she was leaving for good. Camp Pendleton isn’t as far as the original offer (her father’s old position), but it still raised questions about whether she’d remain a series regular. As time passed without confirmation, the uncertainty grew—until now.

It turns out those early worries were for nothing! Not only is Law featured in the cast photos, but EW’s Fall preview reveals Season 22 kicks off six months after the Season 21 finale. Showrunner Steve Binder shared that Knight’s departure has shaken up the team: “The team kind of separates, so picture Parker walking into the bullpen and the kids aren’t home.”

Additionally, TVLine’s Fall preview confirms the premiere picks up with Knight in San Diego, where she’s gotten herself into “fitting trouble” for a hostage negotiator. Binder hinted that this situation will “throw the whole trajectory of everything up in the air.”

With Katrina Law in the cast pictures, it seems safe to say we’ll be seeing Knight back sooner rather than later. In the meantime, those photos give fans plenty to look forward to, and no one’s looking better than Law!
