**Jennifer Esposito Exits CBS Drama *NCIS* After One Season**

Jennifer Esposito is leaving CBS’s popular drama series *NCIS* after just one season as a series regular, as confirmed by EW. The actress, best known for her role in *Blue Bloods*, joined the *NCIS* cast in the season 14 premiere last fall, portraying Special Agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn. Her character was introduced as a former field agent who transitioned to a role as an instructor at the Law Enforcement Training Center. Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, saw potential in her experience and intellect, persuading her to return to active fieldwork as part of his team.

Esposito’s character, Quinn, was developed by former showrunner Gary Glasberg shortly before his passing last fall. Although Quinn’s departure did not prominently feature a significant exit in the season finale that aired on May 14, she was involved in one of the episode’s key cliffhangers. During the finale, she received two puzzling phone calls from her mother, leaving a trail of unresolved questions that could potentially explain her exit in the upcoming season. Fans of the show will need to wait until *NCIS* returns in the fall for more clarity on her character’s fate and whether those mysterious calls will tie into her departure.

As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding whether Esposito may return as a guest star or in a recurring capacity in the future.

Deadline was the first to report this news.
