Jessica Knight’s Fate in NCIS Season 22 Hinted at by Overlooked Katrina Law Detail

CBS’ premier procedural show, NCIS, is showing no signs of slowing down as the Major Case Response Team (MCRT) returns for new episodes this fall. Despite the end of its notable Stateside spinoffs such as NCIS: Hawai’i, NCIS: Los Angeles, and NCIS: New Orleans, the flagship series thrives, surviving countless character departures. However, it may be looking at a big change moving forward, considering the way the NCIS season 21 finale ended.

Despite a shortened year, Alden Parker’s MCRT dealt with numerous issues. Aside from their weekly cases, almost every squad member experienced their respective crises. The franchise also celebrated NCIS’ 1000th overall episode, marking a milestone for the ever-evolving universe. By the time the year ended, the police procedural kept it simple with an intriguing finale that set up the future, including Knight’s departure from the MCRT as she accepted her dream job with REACT.

Katrina Law Represented NCIS Season 22 At CBS’ Fall Schedule Celebration Event

While Knight accepted Director Leon Vance’s job offer despite her previous skepticism, it doesn’t guarantee her permanent exit from NCIS. The show has a history of fake exits, and it’s possible this may also be the case. A strong indication that Knight isn’t permanently leaving MCRT is Katrina Law’s attendance at CBS’ New Fall Schedule event back in May, celebrating the network’s 2024-2025 primetime lineup at Paramount Studios.

If Knight were leaving MCRT, Law could have skipped the event. While most of NCIS’ main cast attended, it didn’t seem mandatory, as Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Nick Torres, wasn’t present. Valderrama has been with the show far longer, and there’s no indication he’s leaving anytime soon. If Law’s time with the show was only up until season 21, she could have skipped the event without spoiling the finale, which aired several days later.
