LL Cool J, the accomplished actor and rapper, has his sights set on a fellow rapper to play him in a potential biopic: Snoop Dogg.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, LL Cool J expressed his desire for Snoop Dogg to take on the role of him in a film about his life. When asked about Snoop’s recent interest in producing a biopic on LL, the Radio rapper responded with a playful twist. “We’ve talked about it briefly but only under the condition that he actually plays me,” LL Cool J said with a laugh. “I need Snoop Dogg to be LL Cool J in my biopic. I need that! Snoop, would you play me in the biopic? You can produce it if you do that.”
Turning more serious, LL Cool J admitted he has mixed feelings about the idea of a biopic. “I’m open to it, but I’m not gonna lie to you, it bores me a little bit,” he confessed. “I have mixed emotions about it. I just have a lot to do creatively, and I feel like I can do a lot. It’s not that I’m against it; I’m open to doing a documentary, but it just doesn’t excite me.”
While Snoop Dogg has yet to respond to LL Cool J’s playful request, he’s busy working on his own biopic. Universal Pictures is developing an authorized film about Snoop’s life, directed by Albert and Allen Hughes (known for Menace II Society and Dead Presidents) and written by Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther). Snoop has expressed his enthusiasm about the project, calling it a “perfect marriage” in a statement.
As for LL Cool J, he’s focusing on his music career. On September 6, he will release his 14th studio album, The FORCE, his first full-length project in over a decade. Produced entirely by Q-Tip, the album features collaborations with Eminem, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Saweetie, and even Snoop Dogg himself.
