‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Season 3 Finale: LL Cool J Says Goodbye as Sam Hanna
The season three finale of NCIS: Hawai’i aired on Monday night, marking the end of an era for LL Cool J’s Special Agent Sam Hanna, following the show’s cancellation by CBS. LL Cool J, who joined the series as a recurring guest star after NCIS: Los Angeles was axed last year, has played the iconic role since 2009.
While fans won’t see him reprise his role anytime soon, LL Cool J is set to make waves in a new project. He’s among the headliners for the 2024 Citi Concert Series, featuring a lineup of major music stars performing at Rockefeller Plaza this summer. The concert series kicks off on May 24 with alt-rock trio Wallows and concludes on September 27 with Chris Stapleton. Other performers include Meghan Trainor, Chance the Rapper, and Bleachers, though LL’s performance date is still to be announced.
The cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i was confirmed in April, even as CBS renewed both NCIS and its Australia-based spin-off, NCIS: Sydney, for their respective 22nd and second seasons. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach addressed the tough decision, emphasizing the need to keep the schedule fresh and evaluate the overall performance.
LL Cool J quickly became a beloved part of the NCIS: Hawai’i cast. In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, co-stars Jason Antoon and Seana Kofoed shared that LL was eager to join the show after visiting Hawai’i during a crossover event. “LL loves being here,” Jason noted, highlighting the positive vibe he brought to the team. Seana praised LL’s “fun energy,” calling him a “talented guy.”
As NCIS: Hawai’i wraps up, fans will miss LL Cool J’s presence but can look forward to his upcoming performances this summer.
