“Meet the New Leroy Jethro Gibbs: Austin Stowell Takes the Lead in ‘NCIS: Origins'”

CBS is shaking things up with a fresh face for the iconic role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the upcoming “NCIS: Origins” prequel series. Austin Stowell has been tapped to portray the younger version of Gibbs, stepping into the shoes previously filled by Mark Harmon for nearly two decades on the original series.

As Harmon bids farewell to his long-standing role, Stowell steps in to explore the early years of Gibbs’ career, set to narrate and executive produce the new series. With Harmon’s seasoned guidance, the show delves into Gibbs’ journey as a newly minted special agent at the NIS Camp Pendleton office in 1991, well before the events of the original “NCIS” series.

At 39 years old, Stowell brings a wealth of acting experience to the table, having starred in various film and television projects. From romantic comedies like “The Hating Game” opposite Lucy Hale to portraying U2 spy pilot Francis Gary Powers in Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies,” Stowell’s versatility shines through.

Fans may also recognize Stowell from his roles in acclaimed series like Hulu’s “Catch-22” remake and the police drama “Public Morals.”

Excitement is already building as Stowell himself shared the news on his Instagram, teasing fans with the caption, “Meet Gibbs… again.”

But the “NCIS” universe isn’t stopping there. Paramount+ recently announced another spinoff series featuring fan-favorite characters Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo, played by Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly respectively. Set to include their daughter Tali, the new series promises to deliver the signature blend of love, danger, and laughter that fans have come to expect from the beloved couple.

With both “NCIS: Origins” and the untitled Paramount+ spinoff on the horizon, the future of the “NCIS” franchise is brighter than ever, offering fans fresh perspectives and thrilling adventures to enjoy.
