Michael Weatherly, renowned for his role as Tony DiNozzo in NCIS, is set to headline one of the two anticipated spinoffs: NCIS: Origins and a series focused on the beloved characters Tony and Ziva.
While the Tony and Ziva series is yet to be formally named, Weatherly divulged exciting details during a recent special. The show, slated for Paramount+, will trail the dynamic duo as they embark on a journey across Europe, endeavoring to balance raising their tween daughter, Tali, with combating global threats.
In a light-hearted moment, Weatherly quipped, “What could go wrong?” as he discussed the series. Additionally, he hinted that the storyline would commence with Tony and Ziva’s family life in Paris before they find themselves on the run.
Fans first encountered Tali as a toddler in the 2016 episode “Family First,” and now, she’ll take center stage as a tween in the upcoming spinoff. Filming is set to commence later this year, promising an action-packed narrative akin to the adrenaline-fueled adventures of NCIS.
Weatherly’s return to the NCIS universe follows his poignant one-episode comeback in February, which served as a tribute to the late David McCallum, known for portraying Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard. McCallum’s character was written off following the actor’s passing, commemorated in a heartfelt homage on the show.
Reflecting on his return to NCIS, Weatherly expressed his excitement for his new role, likely alluding to his involvement in the upcoming spinoff series. With the anticipation building, fans can expect an enthralling continuation of the NCIS legacy with Weatherly at the helm of this thrilling new venture.
