Earlier this year, Michael Weatherly made a brief return to NCIS as Tony DiNozzo in the episode “The Stories We Leave Behind,” which paid tribute to the late David McCallum. This marked Weatherly’s first appearance as Tony in eight years, but it won’t be his last. He’s currently filming the spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva alongside Cote de Pablo, who reprises her role as Ziva David. Weatherly recently shared a photo from the set of the Paramount+ exclusive show, looking both stylish and—literally—hot in the Budapest heat.
Since filming began in July, Weatherly has kept fans updated with glimpses of his fashionable looks on set. In his latest Instagram post, he’s seen wearing a sharp blue suit jacket, though the scorching Budapest weather clearly made filming challenging.
Following his NCIS Season 21 cameo, Weatherly’s reunion with de Pablo in NCIS: Tony & Ziva is highly anticipated. This will be the first time the two have shared the screen since Season 11. Although the spinoff’s title may seem odd given that Tony and Ziva are no longer NCIS agents, the show promises plenty of action as the duo goes on the run in Europe after Tony’s security company is attacked. Fans will also get to see more of Tali, their now 12-year-old daughter, played by Isla Gee.
While NCIS: Tony & Ziva doesn’t have a premiere date yet, fans can look forward to more updates soon. In the meantime, NCIS Season 22 and the prequel series NCIS: Origins will both premiere on Monday, October 14, on CBS.
