Michael Weatherly is soaking up every moment on the set of NCIS: Tony & Ziva. The actor, who began filming in July, has been raving about his time in Europe. Sharing a photo from what looks like a hotel room on X (formerly Twitter) this past Saturday, he wrote, “I really like #Budapest & filming here with all these beautiful, talented people…”
Busy as ever, Michael and co-star Cote de Pablo have been working closely with showrunner John McNamara and director Dennis Smith on the highly anticipated Paramount+ series. Michael later shared a behind-the-scenes photo, captioning it, “It’s so wonderful to be working with my friend and fellow traveler @NCISDIR Dennis Smith! And sitting on the floor is part of my new health regimen. Stretch instead of snack!”
Dennis chimed in with a comment: “Very happy to be here with @M_Weatherly, sharing our love for telling stories and taking you along in our journey!”
Set to premiere in 2025, NCIS: Tony & Ziva will feature 10 action-packed episodes. The plot follows Tony, who left NCIS to raise his daughter with Ziva. After years of believing she was dead, Ziva is found alive, leading to a final mission with NCIS before the couple is reunited with their daughter in Paris. Now, they’re living a quiet life—until Tony’s security company is attacked, forcing them to go on the run across Europe, uncover who’s behind the attack, and rebuild their trust in one another.
Ahead of the premiere, Michael has shared glimpses from the set, including a visit to what appears to be a zoo or animal sanctuary. In September, he teased a camel-filled scene from the set, joking, “From the set of #ncis: Tony&Ziva, it’s all about the camels. Magician and writer extraordinaire @johnthemcnamara crafts our new story and wonders await…” He also hinted at a James Bond-style moment for Tony, sharing a photo of himself in a tuxedo.
While Michael stays active on social media, Cote de Pablo, who plays Ziva, doesn’t have any social media accounts. However, she has discussed her return to the character at high-profile events, including MIPCOM. In October, she expressed her gratitude for revisiting Ziva, saying, “What a luxury it is to revisit a character after such a long time. I think the fans have always wanted to see what happened between them [Tony and Ziva].”
