NCIS and 48 Hours Team Up for Thrilling New Podcast
Two iconic CBS primetime brands are joining forces in the podcast world. Paramount Audio is launching “48 Hours: NCIS”, a crossover series combining elements from the long-running newsmagazine “48 Hours” and the “NCIS” drama franchise.
Hosted by veteran journalist and “The Talk” host Natalie Morales, the podcast will delve into real-life cases involving Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents. Premiering on October 29, the first episode covers the disappearance of 19-year-old Marine wife Erin Corwin in Joshua Tree National Park. Her body was found in an abandoned mine two months later, with another Marine identified as a suspect. The six-episode season promises a gripping tale of infidelity and betrayal.
Steve Raizes, Paramount Global’s Executive VP of podcasting and audio, stated, “We are beyond thrilled to bring fans of ‘NCIS’ a deep dive into the real cases investigated by the agents portrayed on the iconic TV show, and the ‘48 Hours’ audience even more premium storytelling aligned with what they expect from the brand.”
Morales, who joined CBS News in 2021, expressed her honor in telling these stories, especially Erin Corwin’s tragic case.
“48 Hours: NCIS” continues the success of branded “48 Hours” podcasts like “Blood is Thicker: The Hargan Family Killings,” which topped Apple podcast charts. The “48 Hours” franchise has seen a significant increase in subscribers and downloads, reflecting its growing popularity.
The “NCIS” franchise recently celebrated its 1,000th episode, with new entries like “NCIS: Origins” and “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” on the way. Season 22 of the main “NCIS” series premieres on CBS on October 14, and Season 37 of “48 Hours” debuts on September 21.
