NCIS fans can’t imagine the show without Mark Harmon’s iconic portrayal of Agent Leroy Gibbs. Yet, surprisingly, series creator Donald P. Bellisario initially had reservations about casting Harmon in the role.
Despite Harmon’s established status as a relatively big star prior to landing the role of Gibbs on CBS’ crime procedural NCIS in 2003, Bellisario expressed doubts about his suitability for the character. However, as history would reveal, Harmon’s portrayal of Gibbs would go on to become one of the show’s defining elements, captivating audiences worldwide.
