### NCIS: Origins Casts Female Lead Alongside Young Gibbs for Prequel Show
Excitement is brewing as NCIS: Origins announces its latest casting coup, revealing the female lead character who will share the spotlight with young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in this highly anticipated prequel series.
Set to transport viewers back to 1991, shortly after Gibbs’s tragic loss of his first wife and child, the series will follow his journey as he joins the NCIS Camp Pendleton office under the mentorship of seasoned NCIS veteran Mike Franks.
According to Deadline, Mariel Molino has been tapped to portray Special Agent Lala Dominguez, a brand-new character previously unseen in the NCIS franchise. Described as a former Marine with a dark sense of humor, Dominguez navigates the male-dominated world of the 1990s with wit and charm.
The dynamic between Dominguez and young Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell, promises to be “filled with sparks,” with the storyline set to feature plenty of mystery, twists, and turns.
Mark Harmon is set to return to the series, providing narration and serving as an executive producer alongside his son Sean, who also co-wrote the first episode.
Sean Harmon expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “The character of Gibbs has been an important part of my life for 20 years…I always felt there was a tale worth telling about his earlier years, so I am thrilled to be stepping into a producing role alongside Gina, David, and my dad.”
NCIS: Origins is just one of the new prequel series joining the ever-expanding NCIS universe, with another show set in Europe following the on-screen couple Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo also in the works.
Fans can expect NCIS: Origins to premiere later this year, while NCIS continues to air on CBS in the US, with Seasons 1-20 available for streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
