CBS’ long-running police procedural, NCIS, has been dethroned as TV’s most-watched show for the first time in half a decade. Premiering in 2003, NCIS was a spinoff from the success of JAG, but it quickly established its own identity. Set in the Navy Yard, the series became wildly successful, maintaining a loyal following for over two decades. This sustained popularity has been a testament to its enduring appeal.

However, NCIS season 21 faced a setback, failing to secure its sixth consecutive year as the most-watched series. According to a new report from TV Line, NCIS garnered around 9.7 million weekly viewers. Despite its impressive numbers, the show was edged out by another CBS series, Tracker. The Justin Hartley-led project, which debuted during the delayed 2023-2024 season, attracted 10.8 million weekly viewers. This marks the first time in five years that NCIS has not topped the most-watched series list.
