NCIS fans are on edge after season 19 saw Gibbs (Mark Harmon) bid a somber farewell to his team. Now, there’s speculation that another beloved character, Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), might be leaving too.
Torres, who has been resistant to the changes in the team, might be the next to go, especially with Wilmer’s new CBS project on the horizon. Deadline recently reported that Wilmer, who joined NCIS in 2016, has a new family comedy in the works called Mexican Beverly Hills. Wilmer announced the show on Instagram, expressing his pride and excitement for the project.
“Erick, Aaron, Kaitlin all bases loaded… let’s swing away,” he wrote. “Another victory for our @officialwventertainment family and I couldn’t be more proud of the heart that goes into everything we develop!”
Fans congratulated him, but many were worried about his NCIS future. “Wait a minute… are you leaving NCIS???? ,” one wrote. “You can’t leave NCIS!!! ,” added another.
However, there’s no concrete evidence suggesting Wilmer is leaving NCIS anytime soon. His new show, based on The New York Times essay The ‘Mexican Beverly Hills’ by Erick Galindo, follows a working-class Mexican-American family moving to the affluent, primarily Latinx city of Downey in Southeast Los Angeles. Wilmer will serve as an executive producer through his production company, WV Entertainment.
