Fans React as NCIS and NCIS: Origins Go on Six-Week Hiatus

Fans are reeling after news broke that NCIS and NCIS: Origins will take a six-week break, with no new episodes airing between December and January. Both shows will air their final episodes of the year by December 16 and return on January 27.

Viewers took to social media to vent their frustration. One fan posted on X, “WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JANUARY 27 FOR NCIS?!” Another joked about the hiatus confusion, writing, “Happy week one of hiatus! This is going to feel endless.”

The hiatus, designed to reduce reruns, follows CBS’ recent announcement that NCIS: Origins has been given a full season order alongside the comedy Poppa’s House. Amy Reisenbach, CBS Entertainment president, praised the shows for resonating with viewers and fitting perfectly into their Monday lineup.

While frustrating, such holiday breaks are common, with ABC and other networks also pausing programs during the festive season. Fans will have to hold on until January for new episodes of NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and other CBS favorites like Fire Country and SWAT.
