CBS has officially announced the renewal of NCIS for Season 22, confirming the continuation of the long-running procedural drama. With the show currently airing its 21st season, sources, including Variety, have confirmed its extension for another round of episodes. Alongside NCIS, CBS has also renewed the comedy series The Neighbourhood, starring Max Greenfield, for a seventh season.
Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, expressed pride in both NCIS and The Neighbourhood, citing their authentic storytelling and family dynamics as defining qualities of CBS programming.
In a recent statement, actor Sean Murray, known for his role as Special Agent Timothy McGee, reflected on the uncertain nature of the show’s future, emphasizing that no character is completely safe on NCIS.
Meanwhile, the NCIS franchise continues to expand, with spin-offs such as NCIS: Sydney contributing to its enduring success. The franchise will celebrate its 1,000th episode with a special crossover event featuring characters from NCIS Hawai’i and NCIS: Los Angeles. Co-showrunner David North teased the episode, hinting at grave danger for one of the beloved characters and the involvement of various franchise members in a unique way.
NCIS airs on CBS in the US, while its previous seasons are available on Disney+ in the UK, with Season 21 currently streaming on the platform.
