Exciting Updates in the NCIS Season 22 Trailer!
The NCIS Season 22 trailer kicks off with a fresh take on the show’s iconic theme, bringing a wave of excitement for fans of CBS’s beloved procedural franchise. Alongside the introduction of two new spinoffs featuring fan-favorites Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Tony DiNozzo, and Ziva David, the flagship show is set to explore storylines that continue from Season 21, with some unexpected twists.
Co-creator Gabriel Brown of Black Gryph0n revealed that he and his brother composed the updated theme song, which begins with a stripped-down version of the classic opening before transitioning into a new track titled “Stand Up.”
Meaning Behind the New Theme Song
In his social media posts, Brown explained that the new theme emphasizes the familial bonds within Director Vance and Alden Parker’s team. As Navy veterans, the Brown brothers infused the song with a sense of camaraderie and tribute to Jessica Knight, who takes on a new role as Chief REACT Training Officer at Camp Pendleton.
A poignant nod to David McCallum, who portrayed Ducky Mallard, is also featured in the theme. The song references McCallum’s 1968 jazz single “The Edge,” creating a heartfelt connection to his legacy. A similar, toned-down version of the original introduction was used in the special Season 21 episode dedicated to Ducky, where the team celebrated his life.
A Powerful Theme for Season 22
The new NCIS theme song is not only stronger but carries significant meaning, making it a fitting backdrop for various scenes in the upcoming season. While it may not serve as the official episode opener, it’s a dynamic addition that could enhance pivotal moments throughout the series.
With the trailer hinting at challenges ahead, including the looming threat of a mole within the agency, fans can expect plenty of thrilling moments in NCIS Season 22!
