Fans of NCIS: Hawai’i refuse to let go after the series’ recent cancellation, rallying together in a bid to save their beloved show.

The third season finale, which aired on May 6, marked the end of an era for the series, leaving fans stunned and disappointed by CBS’s decision not to renew it for a fourth season. Star Vanessa Lachey expressed her shock and disappointment on Instagram, echoing the sentiments of many fans who felt blindsided by the news.

Just weeks before the cancellation, Lachey celebrated the NCIS franchise’s milestone of reaching 1000 combined episodes across all its series and spin-offs, thanking CBS and Paramount for their support. Notably, Lachey’s role as the first female lead in the franchise added significance to the show’s representation.

NCIS: Hawai’i also made strides in LGBTQ+ representation with the relationship between agents Kate and Lucy, a rarity within the franchise. The loss of this fan-favorite queer ship amid a landscape of dwindling LGBTQ+ representation on TV has left fans reeling, fueling their determination to fight for the show’s revival.

A petition garnering over 28,000 signatures highlights the impact of the show’s LGBTQ+ characters in helping viewers come to terms with their sexuality, urging CBS to reconsider the cancellation. Fans have taken their campaign to the streets, purchasing a digital billboard in Times Square and flooding social media with messages of support using #SaveNCISHawaii.

While network decisions to reverse cancellations are rare, fans hold onto hope, drawing parallels to CBS’s past decisions to revive shows like S.W.A.T. Multiple spin-offs, including NCIS: Hawai’i, have faced premature endings, with the show’s cancellation marking the third spin-off to bid farewell, albeit with the fewest episodes aired.

As the fight to save NCIS: Hawai’i continues, fans remain steadfast in their dedication, clinging to the possibility of a revival and the chance to see their favorite characters return to the screen once more.
