NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 Home Release to Feature Unseen Bonus Specials Following Surprise Cancellation
The third season of “NCIS: Hawaii” is set to be released on DVD on October 8. This release will include two never-before-seen bonus specials, providing fans with exclusive content following the unexpected cancellation of the series earlier this year. Despite its introduction of a new team led by Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant, the show received mixed reactions and will not return for a fourth season, joining other discontinued NCIS spin-offs like “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”
The DVD box set, available for pre-order on Amazon Canada, is expected to be available for pre-order in the US and UK soon. The bonus specials include “Ruah’s Rules: Directing NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i,” likely highlighting Daniela Ruah’s directorial work on the episode “The Next Thousand,” and “NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3: The Third Wave,” featuring behind-the-scenes moments with the cast and crew.
Despite the show’s cancellation, CBS continues to expand the NCIS franchise, with the 22nd season of the original series set to premiere in October, along with new spin-offs “NCIS: Origins” and “NCIS: Tony and Ziva” in development. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach acknowledged the difficult decision to cancel the Hawaii-based series, emphasizing the network’s commitment to evaluating future opportunities and potential successes.
“NCIS” season 22 will premiere on Monday, October 14, on CBS and be available for streaming on Disney+.
