In April, NCIS: Hawai’i fans were devastated when CBS canceled the popular NCIS spinoff, leaving the show on a cliffhanger. Fans have since called on the network to reverse the decision. Co-showrunners Jan Nash, Christopher Silver, and Matt Bosack recently shared what they had planned for Season 4 if it had continued.
Speaking with TVLine, the showrunners admitted they were “obviously surprised” by the cancellation and would not have ended Season 3 on a cliffhanger if they had known. They revealed that Season 4 would have explored deeper storylines, including Maggie Shaw’s arc involving Jane Tennant and her mother, hinted at mid-season.
They also planned to delve into Jane Tennant’s spy past, providing more background on her character and her team. Additionally, the showrunners intended to develop the relationship between Lucy and Kate further.
Other potential storylines for Season 4 included introducing Jesse’s wife and another child, Ernie’s ex-wife, and Jane Tennant’s mother. However, the showrunners emphasized that their focus was always on creating engaging stories for fans.
They also expressed a desire to keep LL Cool J’s character, Sam Hanna from NCIS: LA, involved in future seasons, praising the chemistry between him and Vanessa Lachey.
