Vanessa Lachey, star of NCIS: Hawai’i, has finally broken her silence following the series’ final episode.
The NCIS spin-off concluded its three-season run on Monday (May 6), shortly after CBS announced its sudden cancellation due to moderate viewership numbers.
Reflecting on her time on the show and bidding farewell to her character, Special Agent Jane Tennant, Vanessa took to social media to share an emotional statement with fans. “This show meant so much to me… and more every day I find, to lots of people,” she wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of her character in an aircraft hangar.
“As an AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islanders) woman, wife, mother, colleague, and friend, I am more proud than ever to have been your Jane Tennant on TV,” she continued. “This journey has taught me to continue to push the envelope and break glass ceilings. I encourage you ALL to as well! Anything we dream is ours for the taking, no matter what the circumstance! A Hui Hou (a Hawaiian phrase meaning until we meet again).”
NCIS: Hawai’i’s finale left fans on a major cliffhanger, with Jane Tennant returning home only to discover her daughter Julie was missing. The scene ended ominously with returning guest star Maggie Shaw (played by Julie White) warning, “You’re probably going to need a drink for what’s coming next,” before the credits rolled.
With the show now wrapped up, both Jane and fans are left in the dark about the future unless the series is revived.
Lachey had previously expressed feeling “blindsided” by the decision to cancel the show, sharing her sentiments on Instagram: “Gutted, confused, blindsided.”
NCIS: Hawai’i originally aired on CBS in the US and streams on Disney+ in the UK.
