NCIS Season 22: Everything We Know So Far
The 21st season of NCIS wrapped up with a satisfying conclusion to the central case, but left fans on edge with a cliffhanger regarding Special Agent Jessica Knight (played by Katrina Law). Knight was offered her dream job as the Chief REACT Training Officer by Director Vance (Rocky Carroll), which she accepted. However, this new role would take her across the country, leaving viewers uncertain about her return for the upcoming season.
In an interview at the CBS Fall TV 2024 Party, showrunner Steven D. Binder shared insights into the season finale, describing it as a mix of closure and cliffhanger. “A lot of things were resolved, and some new things were opened up,” Binder explained. “We wanted to resolve the case. Cliffhangers are titillating but also aggravating. We were less aggravating and gave the audience some peace.”
As for what’s to come in Season 22, Binder revealed that the writers’ room hadn’t started working on the new season at the time of the interview, so specific details remained under wraps. However, he did tease that the upcoming season would push the characters to their limits. “We don’t have a slogan yet, but take it to the limit, I would say, is what I want to do with the characters for Season 22.”
