Eric Christian Olsen Joins CBS’s ‘Matlock’ Reboot as Executive Producer

Following the end of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” some of its stars have stayed within the NCIS universe. LL Cool J made an appearance on “NCIS: Hawai’i,” while Daniela Ruah directed episodes for both the original “NCIS” series and “Hawai’i.” However, Eric Christian Olsen, who portrayed Marty Deeks, is venturing into a new role.

Olsen recently confirmed that he will be an executive producer for the upcoming “Matlock” reboot, starring Kathy Bates, set to premiere in the fall of 2024. Having previously worked as an executive producer on Hulu’s “Woke,” Olsen expressed his excitement about his new role at CBS. He shared that his experience working with the network for 13 years has been instrumental in his career and is thrilled to help develop stories he is passionate about from the ground up.

While Olsen will primarily focus on his behind-the-scenes role, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of appearing on the show. He hinted at the potential of taking on a villainous lawyer role, a stark contrast to his long-running character Deeks on “NCIS: LA.” Though his IMDb shows no upcoming acting projects, Olsen’s involvement in “Matlock” and his enthusiasm for future on-screen opportunities keep fans hopeful.

As for a potential return to the NCIS franchise, Olsen has expressed interest, particularly in joining “NCIS: Sydney.” With his recent work on “Matlock,” fans are eager to see if he might make a guest appearance, especially following the surprising baby news for his character Deeks in the “NCIS: LA” series finale.

For now, viewers can look forward to the “Matlock” reboot premiering on Thursday, October 17, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, and keep an eye out for any future appearances by Olsen.
