CBS has greenlit full seasons for two new shows, including the latest in the NCIS franchise: NCIS: Origins.
With 9 million viewers tuning in within a week of its multiplatform debut, NCIS: Origins, which airs Mondays at 10 p.m., explores the early career of a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) in 1991. Narrated by NCIS veteran Mark Harmon, the series follows Gibbs as he begins his journey as a fresh NCIS special agent under the mentorship of the legendary Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid) at Camp Pendleton. Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote also star, while David J. North, Gina Lucita Monreal, Mark Harmon, and Sean Harmon serve as executive producers.
“With its ’90s cinematic style and compelling origin story for Gibbs, NCIS: Origins adds a dynamic new layer to the NCIS universe,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. She added that both NCIS: Origins and Poppa’s House bring engaging storylines to CBS’s Monday night lineup and connect strongly with audiences on CBS and Paramount+.
