NCIS: Origins has secured a full-season order from CBS, expanding the newest addition to the NCIS universe. Set in 1991, the prequel follows a young Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell and narrated by original star Mark Harmon) as he begins his NCIS career at Camp Pendleton after the tragic loss of his wife and child. The ensemble cast includes Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, and Diany Rodriguez.
After premiering on October 14 with a two-episode launch, NCIS: Origins drew strong ratings, leading CBS to extend its initial 13-episode order by an additional five episodes, bringing the total to 18 for its first season. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach praised the show for its “brilliant new dimension” to the NCIS franchise, with its cinematic 90s vibe, rich characters, and engaging storylines.
Airing Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, NCIS: Origins also features recurring roles from Caleb Foote, Daniel Bellomy, Robert Taylor, Julian Black Antelope, Lori Petty, and Bobby Moynihan. The full-season commitment reflects strong viewer response, with Origins standing out in CBS’s new Monday lineup alongside Poppa’s House, a Damon Wayans-led family comedy.
