This fall, NCIS: Origins will dive into Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ backstory, featuring Austin Stowell as the younger Gibbs, with Mark Harmon narrating as the older Gibbs.
Stowell, who’s stepping into a role long associated with Harmon, shared his preparation process, including binge-watching NCIS to capture the essence of Gibbs. Harmon’s advice to him? “Trust yourself.” Harmon’s son, Sean Harmon, also plays a role in the series as an executive producer and previously portrayed young Gibbs in flashbacks. Sean’s push for the prequel aims to explore how Gibbs evolved into the iconic leader seen in the main series.
NCIS: Origins will follow Gibbs as he joins the NIS team after a personal loss, featuring other familiar faces like Kyle Schmid as a young Mike Franks.
