The TVLine YouTube Channel has dropped a new clip offering a glimpse into NCIS: Origins, showcasing a young Gibbs on his first day at the NIS Camp Pendleton office. The video captures him navigating daily tasks while still grappling with the trauma of his wife’s and daughter’s murder. The clip also features Robert Taylor as Gibbs’ father, Jackson Gibbs, and Bobby Moynihan as lead forensics analyst Woody Browne. Patrick Fischler makes an appearance as Special Agent Cliff Walker, overseeing the new NIS Pendleton office.
Mark Harmon, who originally portrayed Gibbs from NCIS’s debut in 2003 until his departure in 2021, reflected on his exit, stating, “I was thrilled with the storyline they came up with and how they handled the character.” Harmon, who has been frequently asked about returning, emphasized his contentment with the role’s conclusion and his trust in the writers’ decisions.
Stowell, stepping into Gibbs’ shoes, acknowledges the challenge of following Harmon’s iconic portrayal. “Mark Harmon has done a job that actors dream to do,” Stowell admitted. He noted that working closely with Harmon, who serves as the series’ narrator, has been crucial in understanding and embodying the character.
NCIS: Origins, the sixth installment in the NCIS franchise, is set in 1991 and focuses on Gibbs as he begins his career as a special agent at the emerging NIS Camp Pendleton office, joining a gritty team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks. The series also stars Mariel Molino, Tyla Abercrumbie, Diany Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote. NCIS: Origins premieres on CBS on October 14, with all NCIS seasons available on various streaming platforms.
